KalSoft receives Best of E-Government Applications Award

KalSoft (Pvt) Ltd. won the Best Applications Award for excellence in the e-government and services category at this year’s PASHA ICT Awards for its GIS (Geographic Information System) Mapping Solution Software – Public Map.
The award ceremony took place on Saturday October 02, 2004 at the Pearl Continental Hotel in Karachi and the nominations were made by software houses from all over the country. The objective of the PASHA ICT Awards is to provide recognition to software and service applications that have been developed in Pakistan. It is meant to acknowledge creativity, innovation and excellence in the Pakistan Information and Communication Technologies sector.
It is an honor for KalSoft that the application Public map - GIS product has been nominated for Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) which will be held in December 2004 at Hong Kong.
KalSoft’s Geographic Information System is a computer-based application built on state-of-the-art Microsoft .Net Technology for mapping and analyzing events that happen around the globe. GIS technology integrates common database operations such as query and statistical analysis with the unique visualization and geographic analysis benefits offered by maps. These abilities distinguish GIS from other information systems and makes it valuable to a wide range of public and private enterprises for explaining events, predicting outcomes, and planning strategies.
The Best of E-Government Applications Award is presented for the most innovative ICT solution in the area of electronic government initiatives and service delivery to the community. To win in this category the application was supposed to enable transformation of internal and external government processes toward customer-centricity and assist the government in providing service efficiently and effectively.
Public Map is a web based application package that can be used for accumulating, analyzing and displaying geographical data along with a diversified spectrum of utilities. It is a GIS product that has been designed to cater the needs of Governments, Private Organizations, NGOs and Research Companies. General public users can locate any specific location or a point in any defined area. House planning agencies can utilize Public Map to plan housing schemes. Transportation authorities can define transportation routes and avoid congestion at busy routes. General public users can also find the shortest route to their desired destination from the place where they are located. Public Map also enables users to take virtual tours of a whole city or any defined area. Public Map promises to provide GIS features to residents of any locality and is highly customizable and can be deployed for any region.
Currently Public Map is successfully functional in the UK where a deployment has been done for East Renfrewshire Council. The Map can be accessed at http://www.ermapping.co.uk via a web interface. |
