Soneri Bank
Soneri Bank Limited formally incorporated all operations in Lahore on April 16, 1992 and Karachi Branch on May 09, 1992. The bank now operates with 64 branches spread all over Pakistan including the Northern Areas of the country where no other private bank has so far ventured. Expansion of branches is based on a policy of maintaining a balance between the urban and rural areas with a view to offering services even in the remote areas of Pakistan. Pleasant and sophisticated atmosphere has been provided in the branches which are all fully air-conditioned and computerized.

Problems Faced
The old system carried out was manual and thus work management was slow with a lack of collaboration, search facilities and effective management of documents. This led the lack of security regarding the documents as the daily internal processes generated huge amount of documents which needed to be kept confidential or secured from unauthorized users.

Implemented Solution
Implementation of an intranet portal based on Microsoft Share Point Portal for Office System clients was carried out at KASB Bank and Soneri Bank. A basic customization of Microsoft Share Point Portal Server installation with existing Web parts, such as Capture Web part, Office Web part, etc. that are downloadable from the Microsoft Share Point preview site was also done. We also created a portal and up to three Windows Microsoft Share Point Portal Server sites to show the different available sites within Share Point Portal Server.

Benefits Provided to KASB and SONERI

1. Show Document Management capabilities such as check in/check out, etc.
2. Set up Search/Index – Searching and Indexing of available file shares or Exchange Public folders
3. Demonstrate reports e.g. Site usage, document folder usage, etc.
4. Show discussion and subscription capabilities helped end users to keep up to date with changes to documents.
5. Introduce News/Events in order to show Information publishing capabilities.
6. Setup alerts for documents/folder changes, search changes.
