Client: Ministry of Defense (MOD) Oman
Project: MOSS 2007
Industry: Government
Technology: MOSS 07
Client Overview
In December 1996, following the promulgation of the Basic Statute of the State, the Defense Council was established by Royal decree. The Council is chaired by His Majesty the Sultan and its members are the Minister of the Palace Office, who also heads the Office of the Supreme Commander, the Inspector General of Police and Customs, the Commanders of the three Services and the Royal Guard and the Head of Internal Security.
Problem Statement
MOD desired to improve its organizational effectiveness by providing one unified suite of enterprise-scale applications that will satisfy its diverse business-critical needs like managing content and business processes, simplifying how people find, share information across boundaries, and enabling better informed decisions. MOD also wanted to optimize how people, content, processes, and business applications interacted by deploying one integrated platform, instead of relying on separate fragmented systems.
The review not only focused on the technical aspects of the messaging environment but also the soft issues such as procedures, best practice and the underlying business needs that will enhance their overall productivity of their Information Technology Department.
Solution Provided
KalSoft successfully completed the phase one of their Data Center Upgrade, along with Microsoft. Using MOSS 2007 Technology, this was the first implementation in the Ministry of Defense for KalSoft.
KalSoft’s assisted MOD’s IT department in defining the vision and scope of the health check of Microsoft Active Directory, transition from Exchange 2003 in U-S child domain to Exchange 2007, on a cluster environment roll out of clients and office 2007 using BDD technologies, deploying MOM 2005 and implementing MOSS 2007.
