Oman Mobile Telecommunications Company, Oman Mobile, is the pioneer licensed telecom provider in the Sultanate and bears the banner of telecom in the Sultanate of Oman. Their strategy is based on encouraging and inspiring competitive ideas while striving for simplicity and innovativeness.

Problems Faced
Oman Mobile required a Knowledge Management System that would empower its employees to connect in a way that would increase their productivity and achieve timely decisions in a very cost effective manner. There as a lack of collaboration, search facilities and effective management of documents as their workflow was manual. There as a lack of security felt regarding the documents as Oman Mobile’s daily internal processes generated huge amount of documents which needed to be kept confidential or secured from unauthorized users. Document security needed to be implemented in a manner that it would not become a hurdle in the existing processes. The need for an Enterprise Project Management was felt as it would allow project managers to control and coordinate resources.

Implemented Solution
KalSoft worked very closely with Oman Mobile to train its users and IS staff and designed the solution keeping in mind the scalability factor as usage increased. It was powered by the Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2003 and Microsoft SQL Server 2000 which has a long standing history of achieving high transactional volume and enhanced reliability therefore considerably enhancing the user experience. Coupled with this, Microsoft Enterprise Search system promised to deliver the ultimate search experience and information retrieval capabilities. Based on these features, the solution surpassed the client’s expectations.
